eroplano...
samantalang itong c palazo
d ko maramdaman kung cya'y apektado
ayaw kong isiping puso nya'y bato

movie marathon...
"any plans this weekend"?
more than 6 people asked me that question yesterday... well, not a surprise... its a "friday thing"... its like its carved in everyone's tongue and programmed to be a dialogue starter every friday...
and, as expected of an auditor... i have been very consistent with my response: we're doing a movie marathon...
true enough, we did...
just a bit of a background, i have been thinking about this since the other week... i wanted to see bourne identity and bourne supremacy again in time for bourne ultimatum... i've seen those movies before but i just want to see them again... then, an addition to the list will be the illusionist which david suggested we should watch...
when i woke up today, this was still the plan... about half an hour later though, i just found myself waiting for a bus to ashfield... what?! bit of a change... now, i wanted to do 5 filipino movies!!! so then i hurried to the masagana store and grabbed dvds...
movie started around 1 pm and just ended about half an hour ago....
1. Eternity - Dingdong and Iza... story about forbidden love...
2. Ang Cute ng Ina mo - Ai Ai, Luis and Anne ---- sobrang nakakatuwa!!!! 5 stars!!!
3. Paano kita iibigin - Piolo and Regine --- highlights volatility of emotion! girls, don't love guys too much... "they might not get there"...
4. Enteng Kabisote - Vic and Kristine --- also so funny, if you're a fan of OKFK, you'll love it!
5. Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo - Ryan and Juday --- those planning to get married, watch this!
it was definitely a very relaxing saturday...

a night for a cause
one of our colleagues in EY invited us to attend a night for a cause in the entertainment lounge in the west ashfield league last saturday night, 18 august ... i have no clue what the cause really is... but we said yes anyway!... found out in the venue that it was for Gawad Kalinga...
Gawad Kalinga (GK), translated in English means “to give care,” and it is an alternative solution to the blatant problem of poverty not just in the Philippines but the world. Its approach is integrated, holistic and sustainable – a concrete action plan to rebuild this nation by harnessing the best of the Filipino – faith and patriotism. (courtesy of GK website)
in short, the organisation builds renewed communities (including villages/houses) for less fortunate filipinos...
before i moved to australia, one of my friends in makati already introduced GK to me... we were so excited to literally help build houses, i.e. kahit tagabuhat lang ng hollow blocks or tagapintura, unfortunately, my schedule then (with my favorite client) barred me from attending the extraordinary cause ---- that was the end of my unstarted GK venture... until that saturday night...
various talents, filipinos and foreigners, from a soloist to bands to dance groups, unselfishly shared their talents to impress the audience in exchange with their $15 contribution... the night was able to generate a generous sum of $2,000, sufficient to build one house ($1,700) and sponsor a child's education ($300)...two thumbs up to those who organised the event... plus a round of applause to those who participated and attended of course...
the night relived my high school days when i was so active with extra curricular activities including charity works similar to GK... the night definitely moved me and made me realise how fortunate i am for having the life i am living... the night rekindled the benevolence i've always had in my heart - the desire to help and reach out...
the BIG question is: so what is the next step?...
it literally took a while for me to answer that question... it is a shame that i don't have a spontaneous specific action plan... but im sure i would have... soon... i thought of joining the team going to the philippines sometime in January but that definitely won't suit my schedule then... im sure there would be other events i could join... im thinking of pooling funds with my friends and try to raise fund to at least sponsor one child... i hope they would buy the idea... and im thinking that christmas would be my best excuse to influence them... i crossed my fingers... then started counting how many filipino friends do i have here down under...
* * *
its almost 11 pm when the program concluded... and since we are in the asfield club, it was a perfect chance to experience feeding those slot machines and try my luck with my $20... 5 minutes resulted to a net loss of $10... time to go...
***
next stop: pumphouse bar in darling harbour with ruby d, dith, of course master lance and his coz kenneth and the new recruits - ruby g and sharon... (rondz went on his own tonight)...
ending: went home at 4am...
consequence: woke up 2pm next day (sunday)...
***
good thing to end our sunday: father richard is back to celebrate the eucharist... he's not too well yet but he's back - which definitely is a good thing for me...

italy
i want to go to italy... seriously, its one of the places i really wanted to go to... someday...
places i wanna go to and/or see...
1. Vatican - how blessed would it be to witness the Pope in person... (im suddenly reminded of Pope John Paul)
2. Venice - how romantic it is to sail in the flooded city

3. Tower of Pisa - learned from one site that the official name of the tower is Torre Pendente Di Pisa. The actual function of the tower is to be a bell tower. So jealous when my brother sent me his picture....

too obsessed with italy...
i just realized that anthony and father richard are both italians...
i'm living in five dock... a very italian suburb...
i love lavazza...

cos im addicted to you...
2 weeks ago, i pronounced our ski trip as one of the best weekends so far since i got here in australia...
now, this is it...
today (august 5) is definitely the best sunday since i got here in australia...
just came from the concert of anthony and it was astonishing... that i would say, is even an understatement!!!!
a very magnificent voice, superb energy, such an extraordinary talent...
plus of course he is super guapo... a perfect package... matchless...
prior to the concert, i was hoping that he will sing rain, hurts so bad, addicted to you... and of course, the prayer (the fastest selling recording in Australian history as well as the highest selling Australian single going four times Platinum)...
he did all that... how good is that!!!! and of course he did songs from his new album...
like a typical fan, we lined up for his autograph....

advance australia fair...
for a week now, this is the song that's been playing on my mind...
Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea:
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page let every stage
Advance Australia fair,
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair.
yap, it is the national anthem of australia... i can't remember how it started, i just found myself googling it and saving a copy on my local.... next was searching it in youtube hoping that someone for whatever reason uploaded it... too lucky? found a clip sang by anthony in one of the rugby games vs new zealand...
oh well, i just realised, i should at least learn something australian before i have my vacation in pinas...
wala lang... trip lang... what can be more authentically australian than the national anthem...

knocked up...
its friday so we deserve a reward for our efforts during the week...
we decided to have dinner at pepper lunch... its a japanese resto in george street close to the cinema... i had beef pepper rice and i loved it...
after that, we went to the see knocked up... its a comedy movie starring seth rogen and katherine heigl... we heard it was good... besides, the movie was directed by judd apatow, who directed 40yr old virgin (which i find funny then)... so we went ahead...
"what if a slacker guy got you pregnant?..."
that's the gist of the movie...
... i had a good laugh to end my week... but i think it was too long for a very uncomplicated story... though overall, it was hilarious... no brainer, just fun...
***
on the side... sydney structures are not the soaring-high type of buildings... then i found out soon "pababa" ang pag build nila (whatever civil engineers or architects call it, accountant lang ako so d ko alam ang technical term hehe)... typical examples are the buildings along george street... hm, westfield malls... ah, EY office, the lobby is already level 9...
same for the cinema... which we just discovered last night coz cinema 5 was actually at the lower level... the past movies that we saw were all on the upper level... feeling ko tuloy nasa ilalim kami ng george street na pag gumuho... totally helpless... hahaha praning ka ghie...
